Changing Nokia N9 default theme with ThemeChanger

Some of you might already be familiar with an app called ThemeChanger, which basically allows you to change the default theme of Nokia N9. This application, funcional as it is, has been useless without themes for download.

Now, since a number of paid and non-paid themes appeared around the internet, it's just high time to give ThemeChanger a try. Each N9 theme provides an individual set of icons and interface design. It also changes the status bar (see screens below) and system icons. The themes are also compatible with horizontal view (if you're using Home Screen Settings for Nokia N9).

 This post is to present an easy way to change themes on Nokia N9.


1. Download ThemeChanger and install it according to these instructions.

2. Download themes. Each theme has to be downloaded and installed just like any other non-store application. At the moment there are several free themes you can use:

Blanco (the default, simple Nokia theme)
Simplico
Simplico-Faenza
Emboss

3. Run ThemeChanger from your phone and choose a desired theme.

There is also a website that offers paid themes, each costs a dollar or so.

4. Restart your phone for the changes to take effect.

I am personally not a big fan of any modifications of the icon design in Nokia N9, as the Nokia team did their best to make the UI experince sleek and as consistent as possible across the Harmattan platform.
